(Summary description)We usually heard some customers require canopy light, but some suppliers may feel confused on the real requirement. Actually, which they asked is Parking Garage Luminaire, while another one is Fuel Pump Canopy Luminaires. These two light fixtures are for different application, today we are so glad to and talk one of the different technical requirements on light output and zonal lumen distribution. Firstly, do you know what is zonal lumen? Please imagine there is a closed sphere with a luminaire in the center, and the radius is equal to the test distance of the distributed photometer. Then, divided this sphere into lots of zonal at certain angles, the luminous flux measured in this zonal is called zonal lumen. Please refer to the following diagram, it is an example for the outdoor area light with Type III optic lens. We usually adopt Backlight, Uplight and Glare ratings(B.U.G.) to evaluate lighting  performance which is related to trespass, sky glow, and offensive light. The zonal lumen listed in the table as above is based on the tesult from LONG SUN's photometric test approved by the Illuminating Engineering Society(IES) for outdoor luminaries (LM-31 or LM-35). In north America market, the DLC clearly defined the zonal lumen distribution with tolerance.
