Now, many growers and farmer choose to use LED grow lights instead of traditional grow lights. LED grow lights have been the popular trend in the market. Maybe many customers would like to know why the LED grow lights are the most suitable for plant growth. So, today, we would like share something with our customers.

Generally speaking, there are four kinds of grow light in the market:fluorescent lights, metal halide lights, high-pressure sodium lights and LED lights.

 

Comparison of four kinds of grow lights:

The light sources of traditional grow lights are generally fluorescent lights, metal halide lights, high-pressure sodium lights, however, these light sources have outstanding shortcomings:

  1. Uncontrollable spectrum: the photosynthesis of plants generally requires light of 400nm-700nm, of which blue (400-500nm) and red (610-720) light contribute the most to photosynthesis. These traditional lights generally focus on green, orange, and red light, and don't make much contribution to plants.
  2. High energy consumption: high power consumption, low luminous efficiency.
  3. High operating costs: Traditional grow lights are relatively heavy and easily damaged, resulting in high maintenance costs and high labor costs.
