Plants can't grow without light. In general, flowering plants grow based on full spectrum of visible light, but not all the wavelengths is the same important. The right spectrum, light intensity and light duration work together to stimulate flowering, growth and reproduction.

The visible spectrum consists of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple light.

The yellow and green wavelengths have little effect on plant growth, while the colors at both ends of the spectrum have the greatest effect on plant growth and flowering. As the plant energy is derived from photosynthesis, plants need absorption wavelengths in the 400-700 nanometers (nm) range. Different plants require different wavelengths, so they absorb different amounts of wavelength.
